Q1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and the company you work for?
TrustKey Solutions is a maker of FIDO Hardware Security Keys. TrustKey brings vertical experience from the chip level to system integration to the market and is committed keeping enterprises and users safe from bad and malicious hackers. I am Andrew Jun, TrustKey’s VP of Product, and I oversee TrustKey’s product marketing and app development.

Q2. Why has your company chosen to sponsor the 2021 FIDO Developer Challenge?
TrustKey is ardent supporter of passwordless movement. We are committed to safekeeping user accounts by removing passwords from authentication and providing secure logging mechanism by taking advantage of FIDO. We are sponsoring the challenge to continue in this effort to strengthen authentication mechanism.

Q3. As a sponsoring company or judge of this year’s Challenge program, what are you hoping to see from developer submissions?
We are hoping to see creativity and innovation in applying FIDO and passwordless mechanism in various applications.

Q4. Do you have any added words of motivation to share with developers who are interested in the program?
Anyone interested in digital security with software skills and passionate about keeping internet safe should apply for the challenge. You can add to the solid framework and foundation FIDO has built with industry leaders in collaboration to thwart hackers from breaking into user accounts. Your contribution matters and we look forward to collaborating with you in the passwordless journey.

Q5. What else would you like to talk about or share?
It would be nice if many participants are coming up with a variety of applications using hardware authenticators including action authorizations with FIDO authentication.

Eiji Kitamura, Developer Advocate, Google

Q1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and the company you work for?
I’m a developer advocate at Google’s Chrome team working on trust and safety on the web. My focus is on security, privacy, identity, and payments to make them open, seamless, and frictionless. Google is a tech company involved in WebAuthn/FIDO specifications, provides APIs for Android OS and Chrome to enable them end to end.

Q2. Why has your company chosen to sponsor the 2021 FIDO Developer Challenge?
We are excited to see what developers will come up with FIDO. Looking forward to learning what can be achieved with it.

Q3. As a sponsoring company or judge of this year’s Challenge program, what are you hoping to see from developer submissions?
We are hoping to see a sane yet unique FIDO implementation that comes with sophisticated user experience.

Q4. Do you have any added words of motivation to share with developers who are interested in the program?
This is going to be a great opportunity to get yourself familiar with WebAuthn/FIDO and at the same time, think of the best possible implementation.

Q5. What else would you like to talk about or share?
Please consider the compatibility well. WebAuthn/FIDO is still evolving but aligning with the limitation is one of the important keys to take into account.

Q1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and the company you work for?
I’m in charge of technology strategy at OCTATCO. My main tasks are analyzing technologies related to biometrics, authentication, security and help our team to develop better services and products. OCTATCO is a powerful authentication technology that combines biometric and online authentication technologies, providing new authentication solutions for finance, defense, energy, administration, and cloud authentication.

Q2. Why has your company chosen to sponsor the 2021 FIDO Developer Challenge?
We believe that It’s a helpful event for everyone to interact with people who are involved in developing new services related to fido and share new ideas.

Q3. As a sponsoring company or judge of this year’s Challenge program, what are you hoping to see from developer submissions?
We are hoping to see new ideas and their completeness that can be applied to new areas where FIDO is not applied.

Q4. Do you have any added words of motivation to share with developers who are interested in the program?
Please share with us your ideas for creating a passwordless world. Please also consider the user experience at the center.

Kyungjoon Park, Security Engineer, LINE

Q1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and the company you work for?
I am currently working on a FIDO2 Server application. Other security-related research is in progress as well. In the past, I also have experience developing FIDO UAF Android/iOS modules. My related work experience is 9 years. LINE is a global company that provides various services such as fintech, shopping, entertainment, and games as well as mobile messengers.

Q2. Why has your company chosen to sponsor the 2021 FIDO Developer Challenge?
LINE recognizes that not only understanding the business value of FIDO, but also engineers around the world understanding the correct understanding and high value of FIDO is currently the most important issue.

Q3. As a sponsoring company or judge of this year’s Challenge program, what are you hoping to see from developer submissions?
We look forward to big challenges and bold ideas that are not afraid of failure.

Q4. Do you have any added words of motivation to share with developers who are interested in the program?
FIDO is an important technology that solves the problems related to legacy password authentication, which has been a major issue for a long time. The support of major IT Big Players around the world proves this. In the future, proper understanding and implementation of FIDO will be a basic skill for engineers and business developers.
