In response to the need for a new authentication mechanism that does not rely on conventional passwords, the FIDO Alliance is striving to standardize and disseminate simple and robust authentication technologies using public key cryptography, as well as standardization programs, with the aim of achieving both security and user convenience. Phishing-resistant FIDO authentication has finally reached the stage of full-scale dissemination, and FIDO authentication can be used for logging in and making payments to services provided by many domestic companies. Passkeys, which Apple, Google, and Microsoft have also announced will be supported, are already available on major platformers, and it is expected that FIDO authentication will become even easier to use.
During Japan IT Week, come visit us at our booth – we will introduce basic information on FIDO authentication, how passkeys work, ongoing topics, and the latest examples of passkey implementations, along with presentations by FIDO Alliance member companies.
