As the demand for stronger and more seamless authentication methods grows, the FIDO Alliance continues to lead the way in developing next-generation solutions that eliminate the need for traditional passwords. By leveraging public key cryptography, FIDO seeks to establish secure yet user-friendly authentication standards, standardize certification programs, and promote the global adoption of these technologies to ensure both security and convenience.
Phishing-resistant FIDO authentication, widely known as passkeys, is being adopted at scale. Numerous global and domestic companies have integrated passkey solutions into their login and payment services. With major platforms such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft supporting passkeys from 2022, these credentials are now available across all major ecosystems, giving users more choices and greater flexibility. This growing momentum is set to further accelerate the shift toward passkey-based authentication.
The 2024 FIDO Alliance Public Seminar in Korea, themed “Unlocking a Secure Tomorrow with Passkeys,” will provide a comprehensive update on the latest advancements in FIDO authentication. Attendees will gain insights into passkey support across major platforms, recent developments in FIDO Certification Programs, and updates from both the global FIDO Alliance and the FIDO Korea Working Group. Case studies will highlight successful implementations of passkeys by member companies and government organizations in Korea and beyond.
The seminar will feature insightful presentations that explore the benefits and future prospects of passkey adoption. Speakers from industry leaders such as Samsung Electronics, Google, SK Telecom, TikTok, Mercari, VinCSS, and key government-funded agencies in Korea, including the Telecommunications Technology Association, will share their expertise and experiences.
