Aetna is now in a multi-year process of rolling out its next-generation authentication (NGA) platform across mobile and web applications. They have adopted passwordless FIDO Authentication with biometrics for their customers’ online account credentials, reducing their reliance on highly vulnerable “shared secrets,” like passwords and one-time-passcodes with strong, unphishable, public key cryptography. In addition, Aetna is rolling continuous, behavior-based authentication to ensure that the authenticated user is the same person throughout the lifetime of the session.
