The FIDO Alliance has announced the launch of the FIDO Device Onboard (FDO) protocol, a new open IoT standard that enables the secure connection of devices to management platforms in the cloud or on-premises. With this standard, the FIDO Alliance aims to address the security, cost and complexity challenges associated with the large-scale deployment of IoT devices. The goal is also to reduce the world’s reliance on passwords through simpler and stronger authentication that prevents scalable attacks and account takeovers.
