As for securing the Internet of Things, the FIDO Alliance piqued readers’ interest with its launch of the FIDO Device Onboard protocol. Currently in ‘Proposed Standard’ status, it was crafted by the FIDO Alliance’s IoT Technical Working Group to enable the installation of new IoT devices without the need for their manufacturers’ access control information, and to ensure that the installation process doesn’t require deep technical expertise, among other aims.
