Brett McDowell, Executive Director, FIDO Alliance
FIDO Alliance, the world’s largest ecosystem for standards-based, interoperable authentication, today announced that Amazon has joined its board of directors.
As more consumers shop online and through internet-connected devices, security and ease of use in the authentication and payment experience are paramount.
That is why it’s been so important to have the companies that define the digital economy – including major technology, financial services and ecommerce leaders – on the FIDO Alliance board of directors. Their input is essential in guiding the FIDO strategic vision of enabling simpler, stronger and more consumer-centric authentication experiences that move beyond passwords for online and transaction security.
Amazon exemplifies those qualities, and the FIDO Alliance is thrilled to announce they have joined our board.
“Amazon’s mission is to be Earth’s most customer-centric company,” said Sean Estrada, Amazon’s head of Industry Security Engagement. “Customer trust has always been at the center of every decision we make, especially in securing customer information. As an early innovator in ecommerce, Amazon had to blaze its own trail in creating a positive ecommerce experience for customers, while also securing transactions to protect customers and earn and maintain their trust. We look forward to working with other industry leaders on a customer-focused approach to authentication.”
We look forward to the valuable inputs from Amazon as the FIDO Alliance continues to work towards our goal to provide open standards that will help enable the seamless and secure ecommerce experiences that consumers are coming to expect and demand.
