FIDO Digs Its Teeth Into 21st Century Authentication

Michael Patrick McSweeney, PYMNTS.com

The organization seeks to bring two-factor authentication into the mainstream, as FIDO President Michael Barrett explained in a recent interview with PYMNTS.com. By doing so, notoriously vulnerable security measures like passwords will become a thing of the past. These efforts, he said, are at the core of what FIDO is all about.

“[FIDO] is designed to come up with new open standards that enable everybody to implement authentication that is simultaneously easier for users to use but more secure for the relying parties that use the authentication,” he said.
