SUMMARY:FIDO Tokyo Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Toward a World Without Passwords\n\n\n\n— Passkeys Today and Beyond —\n\n\n\nFIDO Alliance\, which drives the standardization of technical specifications and certification programs for online authentication that replaces passwords\, has decided to hold its 13th seminar since 2014. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\n\nAmid growing demand for authentication that does not rely on passwords\, FIDO Alliance has worked to balance security and convenience by developing simple\, robust authentication technology based on public-key cryptography\, standardizing certification programs around it\, and promoting its adoption. Since last year\, the Alliance has broadened its focus beyond passkey authentication alone to encompass the entire account lifecycle through digital credentials. \n\n\n\nThis year marks the 13th FIDO Tokyo Seminar\, which will once again be held in person. \n\n\n\nLast year’s 12th FIDO Tokyo Seminar\, themed “The Effectiveness of Passkeys Against Phishing and the Latest Trends\,” generated significant momentum toward passkey adoption. That momentum has only accelerated this year. Following an incident of unauthorized access to brokerage accounts last year\, Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) revised its “Comprehensive Guidelines for Supervision of Financial Instruments Business Operators\, etc.\,” clarifying the requirement to implement phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication. The Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) likewise revised its guidelines\, calling on member firms to implement passkeys and similar measures for critical operations such as login\, withdrawals\, and account changes. JSDA joined FIDO Alliance as a liaison member\, and in response to the revised guidelines\, securities firms have moved steadily toward passkey adoption. This trend extends well beyond the securities industry: passkeys are being adopted across a wide range of sectors and services\, and are becoming a standard authentication method for consumer-facing services. \n\n\n\nIn December of last year\, FIDO Alliance also established a new Digital Credentials Working Group (DCWG) and began working in earnest on digital credentials — enabling identity documents such as driver’s licenses and passports to be securely stored and presented via digital wallets. Drawing on the interoperability expertise\, including cross-device use\, developed through passkey adoption\, FIDO Alliance is advancing standardization in this space\, including the development of certification programs for wallets. The goal is to build a cross-industry\, interoperable framework that allows credentials to be presented securely online\, giving service providers confidence in accepting them. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, this past April FIDO Alliance established a new working group\, the Agentic Authentication Technical Working Group\, to address the role AI agents play in authentication and digital credential scenarios. Looking ahead\, AI agents are expected to act on people’s behalf across a wide range of areas\, including internal approval and authorization processes. The Payment Technical Working Group is also examining scenarios in which AI agents make online purchases and payments on an individual’s behalf. \n\n\n\nIn each of these scenarios\, a key emerging challenge is how to authenticate that an AI agent is genuinely acting as the authorized representative of the person or organization it claims to represent\, and operating within its approved scope. This seminar will introduce FIDO Alliance’s latest efforts and initiatives in this area. \n\n\n\nUnder the theme “Passkeys Today and Beyond\,” the seminar will share the latest trends in passkey adoption in Japan and offer practical insights for any company or organization considering passkey adoption. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to your participation. \n\n\n\n* Program details are still being finalized and will be announced as they are confirmed. \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\nSession Start TimeSession End TimeSessionsSpeakers12:0013:00Registration / Demo Viewing13:0013:10Welcome AddressKoichi MoriyamaExecutive Council & Board Member and Chair of FIDO Japan WG\, FIDO Alliance / Chief Security Architect\, NTT DOCOMO\, INC.13:1013:30Opening Keynote-The My Number Card: Current Status and Future Outlook (Tentative)Hisashi UekariyaDeputy Director-General\, Digital Social Common Functions Group and Services for Citizens Group\, Digital Agency13:3013:45FIDO Alliance Keynote–Passkeys and the Identity LifecycleAndrew ShikiarExecutive Director & CEO\, FIDO Alliance13:4513:55Strengthening Measures Against Unauthorized Access to Customer Accounts and Fraudulent TransactionsMitsuhiko KomuraDeputy Director\, Banking and Securities Business Supervision Bureau Office of Policy Coordination for IT Risk\, Cybersecurity and Economic Security\, Financial Services Agency13:5514:02The Cyber Threat Landscape and Law Enforcement Initiatives: A Focus on Anti-Phishing MeasuresTakahide SannomiyaAssistant Director\, Cyber Affairs Bureau Cyber Policy Planning Division\, National Police Agency14:0214:27Panel Discussion: Passkey Adoption for Securities Accounts – Achievements\, Lessons Learned\, and the Road Ahead for All CustomersModerator:Naohisa Ichihara\, Board Member and Co-Vice Chair of FIDO Japan WG\, FIDO Alliance / CISO\, Mercari\, Inc.Panelist:Soichiro NomuraManaging Director\, Wealth Management IT Dept.\, Nomura Securities Co.\, LTD.Tadahiro OoishiGeneral Manager\, Cybersecurity Division\, Rakuten Securities\, Inc.Daisuke HoukiTeam Leader\, System Development Dept.1 Product Delivery Group1 Authentication Team\, Monex\, Inc.14:2714:47All About Passkeys 2026: Challenges Revealed Through Deployment and What Comes NextEiji KitamuraKosuke KoiwaiExpert\, ID and Authentication Development\, Application Development Department\, KDDI CORPORATIONMasaru KurahayashiBoard Member and Evangelist\, OpenID Foundation Japan14:4715:04Platformer UpdateEiji KitamuraDeveloper Advocate\, Google LLC15:0415:19Sponsor Presentation – Signature SponsorTakashi\, Yoshii\, Daon\, Inc. SUMMARY:FIDO Sponsored Webinar | Beyond OTP: A Practical Playbook for Passkeys\, Silent Auth\, and Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Banks and financial institutions are moving to retire SMS OTPs\, but fraudsters aren’t retiring. As passkeys move from pilot to plan and biometrics strengthen the front door\, attackers are targeting the weak points around login: account recovery\, new device enrollment\, phone number changes\, and spoofed calls into the contact center. Too often\, these paths still rely on OTPs that are easy to phish\, costly to send\, and frustrating to use. Strengthening login is only part of the challenge. Securing everything around it is what comes next. \n\n\n\nJoin Prove and the FIDO Alliance for a candid conversation on how fraud and risk leaders are building authentication that stays ahead of modern account takeover. We’ll talk about where silent authentication and passkeys work together\, what to do when customers change devices or numbers\, and how to spot patient attackers who register a device and wait. \n\n\n\nYou’ll leave with: \n\n\n\n\nA simple way to map where OTPs and weak fallbacks still live in your customer journey\n\n\n\nPractical patterns for device changes and phone number changes\n\n\n\nStraight answers to the questions teams ask us most\n\n\n\nTalking points to help you make the case internally\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Today
