FIDO’s certification programs are a critical element in ensuring an interoperable ecosystem of products and services that organizations can leverage to deploy FIDO Authentication solutions worldwide. FIDO manages functional certification programs for its core specifications (UAF, U2F and FIDO2) to ensure product interoperability, and more recently has introduced programs to delineate security capabilities of FIDO Certified Authenticators, and also to test and validate the efficacy of biometric components. Previously, he was head of ecosystem security at PayPal, where he developed strategies and launched initiatives to improve internet security. Mr. McDowell has extensive experience leading cybersecurity coalitions, having held various leadership roles in NSTIC IDESG, DMARC.org, M3AAWG, NCSA, StopBadWare.org, Kantara Initiative, and Liberty Alliance. Mr. McDowell is a fellow at the National Center for Digital Government at UMASS and serves on the Boston Federal Reserve Bank’s Mobile Payments Industry Workgroup. David Rivera, Principal Engineer and Director of Software and Device Security, Intelligent Devices Group, Lenovo David Rivera is a Principal Engineer and Director of Software and Device Security for the Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group. Lenovo is a founding member of the FIDO Alliance. Mr. Rivera established (2013) and chairs the FIDO Certification Working Group, leading the development of processes and policies for the FIDO certification program. To date, nearly 500 products have been FIDO Certified. At Lenovo, Mr. Rivera leads a team responsible for ensuring Lenovo delivers safe software and products to its customers, covering Personal Computer software, Cloud Software/Services and IoT devices. He also leads efforts to drive the latest PC and device security and authentication technologies into Lenovo’s Personal Computer and Smart Device products. Mr. Rivera has more than 25 years of experience in software architecture, development and security. Dr. Stephanie Schuckers, Director, Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR), Clarkson University Dr. Stephanie Schuckers is the Paynter-Krigman Endowed Professor in Engineering Science in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University and serves as the Director of the Center of Identification Technology Research (CITeR), a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center. She received her doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan. Professor Schuckers research focuses on processing and interpreting signals which arise from the human body. Her work is funded from various sources, including National Science Foundation, Department of Homeland Security, and private industry, among others. She has started her own business, testified for Congress, and has over 40 journal publications as well as over 60 other academic publications. Dr. Schuckers chairs the biometric certification effort within FIDO Alliance. Dr. Rae Hayward, Certification Director, FIDO Alliance Dr. Rae Hayward is the Certification Director for FIDO Alliance where she is charged with the development and execution of the FIDO Certification Programs. She has extensive expertise in developing strategic initiatives, organizational goals and objectives, and policies and procedures in order to advance organizational efficiency and effectiveness related to certification programs. She is a highly regarded, experienced leader with a background in the strategic design, development, implementation, and management of professional certification and education programs related to people, products, and processes. Dr. Hayward ‘s career encompasses over 20 years of experience in certification and education, with expertise in not-for-profit organizations.
