FIDO Authentication, resistant to phishing, has finally reached the stage of full-scale penetration, and can be used for login and payment services provided by many domestic companies. Passkeys support, which major platformers announced last year, is expected to create an environment that makes it even easier to use FIDO Authentication. At our booth, we will introduce specific products and solutions of domestic and overseas member companies.
The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance is transforming the current lack of interoperability between robust authentication devices and solving the problem of users having to create and remember multiple usernames and passwords. It was launched as a non-profit organization in July 2012 with this purpose. The FIDO Alliance is changing the nature of authentication by developing specifications that define open, extensible, and interoperable mechanisms to reduce reliance on passwords for user authentication. A new standard for security devices and browser plug-ins will enable any website or cloud application to connect with today’s and tomorrow’s FIDO Certified devices for a more secure online environment. In order to achieve the mission of the FIDO Alliance, we are conducting the following activities.
(1) Develop technical specifications that define open, extensible, and interoperable mechanisms to reduce reliance on passwords for user authentication.
(2) Operate a program for industry so that this specification can be smoothly adopted around the world.
(3) Submission of mature technical specifications to an accredited standards body for formal standardization.
